LPT: even when your coolant temp needle reaches dead center (fully warmed up), your engine oil isn't at operating temperature for at least five more minutes of driving.

I have my first car with both oil and coolant temp gauges and when my coolant gets to 190-200F (90C), my oil is generally still at 140F (60C). I'd erroneously assumed their temps rise together but it takes at least another five minutes to get that oil to 200F.So if you don't have a dedicated oil temp gauge, before going full throttle or driving hard I'd say wait that extra five minutes after your coolant is fully up to temp. via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2sKqVSL
