A noobie among pros here- would a Cooper Clubman be a good first car?

The clubman looks very pretty to me, everything from its barn rear doors to it's optional leather seats, the price isn't necessarily overbearing either (all I would want is the option for it to be automatic, color and whatever don't matter to me). The only real "complaints" i've seen are that it doesn't drive like a regular cooper (which I don't care about), and that it is unreliable (I'm in the Americas).
