Why do people in the U.K. drive manuals?

I understand why many people would prefer manuals but they're often car enthusiasts or old. Almost everyone in the U.K. lives in a city so they can't get any enjoyment out of driving. Why would they bother with manuals for boring city driving? via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2rPmTsw
