As great as the 10th gen Civics are (I own one and love it), I can't shake the fact that screaming NA VTEC engines are no more. I always had a soft spot of respect for Civic Si's even after getting my Evo X.With the 2017 Si being such a disappointment (you can see links to the review in my post history), I'm considering the idea of picking up one before they're rare and a distant memory.Context:I will daily it, but my commute to work is 2.3 miles, no highway or rush hour traffic to deal withI'm not interested in an S2000. I just like the appeal of how Honda has stuck a middle finger to FWD-haters with real performance FWD carsI will keep it mostly stock (light suspension and tune mostly just to eliminate rev hang if I get a later model year). I have a built 500+ hp Evo X as my racecar. I will never turn this Honda into a track monster - I want to keep it pure and appreciate what Honda will no longer be buildingI have only driven an 8th gen Civic SiWilling to do basic/some maintenance/restoration work, because I know I'll be shopping a car usually bought by many young go-fast kidsAgain. This will be kept in near stock condition. I want to appreciate the retired breed, not push it to the limit. My first speculations/thoughts:Fans keep saying the 8th gen Civic Si was better than the 9th. Is it really that bad of a difference?I kind of like the appeal of the 9th gen being the last of the NA VTEC offerings, even if it wasn't the best. I think the 9th gen looks far better than the 8th gen tooI always liked the look of Integras, but never drove one. How are they by today's standards? I still hear some people say that no Civic since has beat the Integra in the handling department (other than maybe the 10th gen)RSX's always looked a bit awkward up front to me (but I don't hate them), and some googling said the Si was better than the Type-S for it's LSDIs the dash mounted shifter as weird as it looks on the EP3?How about the Integra Type R? Worth the reputation to deal with finding and paying for one? via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2tpC934
