Who is interested in the Kia Stinger GT? It is getting a lot of unwarranted criticism and prejudgement. My observations as an owner of a Chevy SS.

The Stinger GT is Kia's first real sport sedan and it seems like they have put a lot of effort into it. BMW M's head, Albert Biermann, was poached by Hyundai to develop a car in a similar vein as BMW. This car is supposedly the real deal, according to initial impressions from C&D and MotorTrend. The Stinger GT has faults, no doubt, but it should be pretty interesting to see how it reviews.http://ift.tt/2tZNbMF, it's only available in an 8 speed AT. But then, so is the Quadrifoglio. Let's get this straight, the Stinger is NOT a Quadrifoglio, but my point is that the transmission shouldn't be a reason we dismiss the car. Let's just hope there's enough interest in this car that Kia decides to put in a manual transmission. I know that'd make the car tempting for me.So transmission aside, I'd like to get into something else I've noticed. The relentless and biased hatred of this car from Americans. I recently purchased a Chevy SS and so I belong to a couple FB groups and an SS forum. Mind you, the Chevy SS itself is a car that itself is the victim of a lot of biased dismissal and judgement. Some things we hear all the time are: it's just a straight-line car, it's a Malibu, or it's got a big heavy V8. All false. Personally, this was my first American sport sedan, coming from a long line of Japanese and German sport sedans and coupes. I looked beyond both the unjustified and justified criticisms the SS had and judged the car based on my test drive and research. Most of us know that the Chevy SS is a real sport sedan, but many still think it's a souped up Malibu. Knowing that, you'd think Chevy SS owners would be willing to look beyond badges and perception, but it's in fact the opposite. Chevy SS owners are some of the most close-minded car guys I've ever experienced. I'm not going to go into much detail, but it's safe to say that the actual performance of the car does not matter. It could be a rebadged M3 and they'd still call it a souped up Optima. There were even a couple racist comments peppered in there for good measure. The ironic/funny thing is that Australians are very excited for the Stinger GT with the departure of the Commodore. Their gear heads seem to be very excited to see what this car will be able to do and are willing to give it a fair shot. We all know Australians made the Chevy SS and they are the ones hoping the Stinger GT can be somewhat of a replacement. via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2uYouOe
