What wheel size will give the best performance?

Hey guys.I got myself a new-to-me NA Miata. Absolutely love it.To fit some decent tires and more importantly, better brakes, I need bigger wheels.In terms of handling alone - will a 16" wheel behave better than a 15"?It will be 205/45/16 vs. 195/55/15.Will a much shorter sidewall, will the handling suffer much?Thank you very much!
