What Japanese car(s) do you think are under-appreciated, classic, recent or brand-new?

A lot of the time, cars such as the Nissan GT-R [awesome sports car!] and Toyota FT86/GT86/86 and Subaru WRX STI get all the discussion, but I'm turning discussion the other way and asking which Japanese cars you feel are under-appreciated.For me, one of the was the Nissan Gloria [Y30, 1984-1987]Obscure to some Nissan enthusiasts over here in the United Kingdom [where it was marketed as the Nissan 280 C and 300 C, some 18 years before Chrysler used the 300C name in Europe].I like the slabsided styling, the V6 engines and the luxury gadgets it had. If I were to buy one it would be a 1986 model, with the 3.0-liter/146hp V6 [the VGS engine] or 3.0-liter/200hp V6 turbo [the VGET V6 engine].Image of Nissan Gloria Brougham. The stationwagon looks quite imposing. This failed to sell as buyers went to the Audi 100 and BMW 5-Series in the United Kingdom, but it is under-appreciated.I'm also going to mention the Daihatsu Charmant - which was never sold in the U.S or Canada.Basically a Toyota Corolla E30 [Corolla 30 in the United Kingdom], it had a 1.3-liter/58hp 4-cylinder or 1.6-liter/75hp 4-cylinder petrol [prior to that, it was 1.2-liter/65bhp 4-cylinder or 1.4-litre/71bhp 4-cylinder.You rarely if ever see one these days. We never received the 1974-1981 Charmant in the United Kingdom, but it was sold in the Netherlands and Iceland [surplus Dutch stock was sold in Iceland] - we only got the Toyota Corolla 30 until March 1980 in 30 De Luxe with the 1.3-litre/59bhp 4-cylinder or the 1600 Liftback with its 1.6-litre/74bhp 4-cylinder.Actually, the Corolla 30 Series seems under-appreciated compared to more modern Corollas, but I like the Corolla 30 Series sedan's simple styling, and as for the liftback - you don't see them much nowadays [not counting one I saw near Telepherique du Saleve, France which had Swiss numberplates on - it looked good!]What Japanese cars do you feel are under-appreciated and why?I would be interested to know what you think. via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2tmA2wM
