Probably a stupid question if I have to ask - are early 2000s Audi's really that bad?

I have a friend of a friend selling an audi allroad with a manual transmission.2001-2004 (they werent clear on the year yet) and it has ~250k km on it. But apparently i can get it for around $2000 CADEverything i'm reading tells me to stay away from early audi's. Their air suspension and electrical system are notorious for failure, and repairs are stupid expensive.I'm told the vehicle is running, and that the owner's father is a mechanic who has kept it in great condition. My brain is saying no (cost, reliability, not knowing stick) but my heart is saying yes(i have a sweet spot for wagons, and a turbo awd sport wagon seems amazing - plus, i'm ready for the challenge of learning stick)doug demuro's recent video left me a little cautious.TL:DR - How bad are early 2000s audi allroads for reliability and maintenance. what should i look for if i decide to buy it? And how challenging would repairs be for someone who is new to cars.(I'm a licensed pilot and an engineering student, so i'd like to think i'm a quick learner with good background in aero engines) via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2stSNeD
