A couple of my friends and I came across a Ford Taurus that didn't run correctly right before we all graduated from college. It had been wrecked and didn't want to rev, but a cheap car is a cheap car, right? My buddies stripped the interior and removed one of the catalytic converters before I got involved in the project, but I showed up in just enough time to rig up the greatest exhaust in the history of automotive engineering.https://youtu.be/4KWYov8SRrUhttp://i.imgur.com/wNzrn5x.jpgWe are all in a motorsports club at school so we made sure to send teasers to the people who knew about the project.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5jqpq_6skcWe also had to replace a control arm from the previous crash, so we test drove it for multiple victories at once.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qBImkuabUkOne of the guys had access to a vinyl cutter at school, so naturally we had to decorate the race car we had since dubbed "Encierro"Surprisingly, the car did pretty well at its first autocross. The heavy front end and open diff definitely lead to some one wheel peels, but at least the exhaust sounds pretty good!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_MBKXY9INoWe spoke to the safety steward and apparently 5 seatbelts = 5 passengers.https://youtu.be/LhDwqt9dPFwFollowing this achievement, the search was on for a rally cross event and we wondered how the car would do.The answer? Fantastic. Why be competitive when you can ride in style and have the soft suspension soak up the bumps?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZ9clJVJCyoIn car footage.https://youtu.be/Ir9G3Fw0Ia4Oh, also the hood is chalk board paint.http://ift.tt/2tiE3SK's next? I'm not sure. We would do some road course action, but the automatic trans in this has seen enough abuse. Keep your eyes on VIR, as there may be a Ford Taurus turning <2:00 laps out there soon! via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2sOlHWg
