I want to get into performance cars. What would be my best first car? $3-5K

Hey r/cars, I am currently looking to make my first "big" purchase on a car and want to get into performance cars. I want to learn the works of modifying/tuning my car. My two oldest brothers have owned/own performance cars: •2014 Subaru STI •2008 Subaru WRX •2013 Ford Taurus SHO •2014 Volkswagen GTIAll of which had been modified/tuned. I have a general understanding for the tuning/modifying game but would like to get into it myself and teach myself the ropes.Do you all have any recommendations for a solid first car that'll immerse me into the life of performance cars?
