I have a 2004 Jetta TDI, with only 100hp (@4000rpm) and 177ft-lb (@1800rpm). With these numbers, why do I still find it fun to drive?

Might seem like a silly question. But despite these numbers, I find it pulls/accelerates up steep inclines in a breeze, starts from a stop very quickly, and usually have no problem passing cars (sometimes downshifting helps; if I don't, I may be putting the pedal to the floor). The steering is also excellent/very responsive and handling feels great. I guess my only point of comparison are the economic Toyotas my parents have, and a couple old trucks I've driven from my friends, but the internet tells me I should be miserable with this powerless, impotent engine. What am I missing? via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2tGWijv
