Simple question. I'm talking like engine blocks, crank and camshafts, heads, and maybe even transmission gears? There are already drive shafts and transmission housings but that's the extent of major parts. I suppose heat might be a problem but I don't know how well carbon handles heat and friction. The barrier to use them in smaller parts for road use like in valve trains are probably costs and in racing, even at F1 level, they are bound by budget R&D costs and material use regulations. Has anyone made major parts for experimentation? Surely it would work with steel/aluminum sleeves and bearings. I guess not so much a simple question. via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2sVRTLw
