So I have (had?) an unusual and limited production car. I sent it off with the unofficial US guru for this model to some work done. The guy has done work for about everyone in the forums and comes highly recommended. We got stuck for an extended period of time due to needing parts that were no longer in production (OEM or aftermarket). Eventually I sourced the parts from someone who had previously bought them and never used them. When I tried to coordinate with the guy I could not get a hold of him over a period of a few months of trying every method of contact I could. Eventually I heard that many others were in the same situation and that he had moved, changed his phone number, and blocked everyone that he owed parts/work to. I've been led to believe this may not be able to be reported as stolen since I initially gave him possession of the vehicle. Even worse is that I am out two cars now because I traded him another car in exchange for the work on this one. Has anyone been in a similar situation? I'm not sure what to do but if I can't get the car back I no longer want to pay for registration, property tax and insurance. I'm working with insurance currently but it seems like they aren't sure about what to do either. via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2sVYzsC
