As the title states i am having some issues with motor oil related things. I own a 300c 5.7l hemi that has quite an awful tick to it once it reaches operating temperatures.I have read many things about oil additives like slick-50. Both positive and negative, people claiming "snake oil" and waste of money. And rare few cases claiming it can be credited to a total engine failure. Immediately when i started to hear this ticking, which supposedly originates from somewhere in the valve housing i started to google about it, and i found many threads of the usual "hemi tick" and how it is supposed to sound like that, while other people claim that switching to the 6.1 hemi pushrods have solved their issue. Some also claimed that they used additives like redline and slick-50 and it took care of the issue. My question is as follows, I have bought a bottle of slick-50 engine treatment and a bottle of treatment to put inside the motor oil and the other one inside the fuel tank as to clean stuff inside. I only recently started to take interest in cars when i bought my hemi. What are your thoughts on additives like these? are they a total waste of money? can they be harmful to the engine? and do any of you have personal experience with these kind of things? From my forum browsing i have seen people swear by it working, while others say it can damage the engine. Do you think it can damage the engine or is it just a waste of money to buy these additives? If money is the only issue i will still try it, if harm can be done to the engine i will most likely still try it, but with a lower dose. The fuel treatments on the other hand seems to be a-okay to use according to other users, as it seems to do no harm and could actually clean up injectors and whatnot.Your thoughts? via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2skTuL8
