I learned to drive a manual during the summer of 1997. I learned on my dad's 1993 Mustang.I had just turned 16 that previous winter. My mom was teaching me to drive on my sister's '88 Chevy Beretta. It was an automatic. One day, i was at my dad's place and he handed me the keys to his Mustang and said "let's go."When I sat in the driver's seat, he spent about 10 minutes explaining the friction point, the clutch, the gears, etc. I stalled the first few times. It took a few hours before I was comfortable starting the car on a steep grade.By the end of the day, I could drive a manual. I ended up taking my driver's test a few weeks later on my dad's mustang. And yes, I had to parallel park to pass the test.Isn't this how it works anymore? Is it harder today then it was back then? It just seems like there are so many posts asking for help in learning to drive a manual. I didn't even have hill assist. via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2sYKPNP
