Electric mainstream?

As long as my current car manages to last long enough my next car will be an electric saloon, something along the same lines as a Jaguar XE, BMW 3 series, Audi A4, Volvo S60 etcI'm not a car expert at all so I've been googling up on electric cars and it seems to be very focused on small cars and on SUVs, but very little on saloons.The class of car I'm looking at is a fairly common one so I'm thinking it's got to come eventually...Would any of you car enthusiasts be able to hazard some kind of guess at how long it'll be before electic cars are mainstream?
