Preface, it has to do with warranty work at a dealership.Girlfriend has a 2013 Passat, she bought it used CPO with warranty through to 48k miles and change. she complained several times about a noise coming from the front end, whereupon the dealership replaced one and then the second CV axle to fix it. Problem solved for the time being. She has since (recently) moved to Florida and we are working with a different dealership when the noise decides it's going to come back ~43k miles. So we take her car to the new dealership, take the service rep for a spin and he notes the noise we are talking about. Go to pick the car up only to find that they weren't able to get it to reproduce the noise (my takeaway was that they didn't even look at the car as they couldn't make the noise again). Service advisor tells us to "bring it back when it's a bigger problem." Car now has 50k on the clock and the noise is really bad, as in impossible to miss. We have scheduled a service appointment, and I'd like to have the dealership honor the original warranty as we had done our best to bring it in before the warranty expired, or at least goodwill the service and parts as it has been a known problem with the vehicle. What are your thoughts on this matter? Am I out of line for expecting them to cover it? Yes, the car is now out of warranty, but this problem arose twice while it was under warranty and we brought it in both times. I'd hate to have it be something major that would have been covered under the warranty just a short while ago. Thanks for the input!-------- About the noise:Consistent, rapid popping (almost sounds like a creaking wooden ship on the ocean) coming from front end during zero-speed and low speed (now even medium speed) turns to the left. Only happens when suspension is under load. Checked tie rod ends and ball joints and double checked that the power steering rack and subframe bolts were tight, which leads me to think it may be the CV axle again.
