Better option? Have bumpers and grille painted or replace them with new parts?

I have a chrome grille insert and chrome front and rear bumpers on my black truck. I am considering 1 of 2 options: either have the chrome pieces stripped and painted black or order black parts for roughly $550 on eBay (yes I already checked the prices of each) and replace them myself and try to sell the chrome parts locally.
