Advice for buying out of state used car

There's a car I want to buy from a private seller in Oregon and bring back to California.The car will need to be shipped and I cannot wait in Oregon for it to get picked up. I'll be in Oregon to make sure it's what I want, pay the seller (via cashiers check and the balance in cash), sign over the pink, and a bill of sale.The seller is willing to cooperate with a shipper picking up the car at a later time. Is this the proper way to handle such a situation? Or should I be considering a 3rd party, such as an escrow company, to mediate the transactions? via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2taeC3X
