Where/how to learn what you should know before owning your first car?

Context: teenager who might be getting first car sometime in the next yearI want to know how I can get to know all the terminology people use, like in websites like this. Things like what is a good engine, how much horsepower is reasonable, what kind of fuel efficiency is considered good etc.Basically just all these specs people talk about when they describe cars. Things that someone would want to know before owning a car for the first time. I just don't know where to begin. Should I just read on Wikipedia? WikiHow? Is there some show I could watch? A YouTube channel?I'm not a flashy person, and I just want to get something practical, fuel efficient, cheap, and preferably small. I'm thinking about something like a used 2006 (or earlier) Scion xB. Does that seem like it might be a good idea? I live in the city, and I'd probably use it just to do things like drive to work (if I were to get a job somewhere far away - this is not confirmed) and small things like getting groceries on the weekend. via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2tX6pDC
