The golf/GTI is a great car that responds extremely well to mods, but without AWD it's hard to put that power down. Your options are the golf R which is $36k or the golf all-road which is lifted mand not super sporty. VW quietly announced they will be making an AWD golf sportwagen with a MT for $22,400. I know what you're thinking, "who cares it's not fast". Add a is38 turbo ($1400) downpipe ($500-900) and an apr tune ($700) and you have a turbo manual wagon making 350+ hp on pump gas.
