Wiper failure 2015 Highlander

Hi all,I had an incident with my car this weekend that I left me shaken and wondering if this had ever happened to one of you.I was driving home when I was hit with a heavy rain storm. I had my wipers on max when they both suddenly failed in such a way that they were crossed and locked in position across the driver side view. The mixture of the rain and the position of the wipers meant that visibility immediately dropped to zero. I immediately slowed to a stop, and found myself on the wrong side of the undivided highway I was travelling.Thankfully no traffic was in the area at the time, but this very easily could have led to a head on collision. After about 20 minutes I was able to dislodge the wipers and move them out of the way, but it was obvious that they had zero functionality going forward, as in they were limp. The rain soon let up and I spent the next 4 hours of the trip trying to dodge rain storms in order to get home. The vehicle is a 2015 Highlander with less than 45,000 Km on it, I would not have expected to have such a serious failure on a vehicle this new.I have it booked in with the dealership to get it repaired, but this experience left me quite shaken and concerned about the safety of this vehicle. Was this just a freak failure? via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2rRdi3H
