This is one of those situations that I assumed would be a super easy fix but has counfounded me for several weeks now and left me without a drivable car. Could sure use some clarification from some experts, it's making me feel like a complete moron. Willing to offer gold and potentially a donation to charity of your choice (some restrictions apply) in exchange for helping resolve this issue. Some brief background: I have a wheel on my 2001 Volvo s40 that I've been told by a couple of shops is cracked beyond reasonable repair. Since finding a single replacement has been problematic I've decided to just buy a new set of wheels, but want to make sure they will both fit my vehicle and a set of very new tires that I would be very loath to have to re-replace.Something that has complicated issues is that the previous owners installed some nonstandard 16-inch rims (factory was 15 I believe). So my brand new tires are sized to fit this, but most sites and options I've found have tended to point me toward 15' versions. When I have found 16' rims that supposedly fit the 4x114.3 figuration this car needs, I've found that they generally don't have the 'proper' offset of 44 mm.If it helps, here's the wheel in question.. here's the tire the wheel would need to fit..This is probably blaspehmy on this sub, I'm not remotely concerned with aesthetics; I drive my car for function not to look good. The replacement set does not need to match the others or look nice in any capacity as far as I'm concerned. I value cost and reliability as my primary concerns here.I live in the middle of a major city, so unfortunately there aren't a lot of nearby places overflowing with spare wheel rims like a junkyard or something. And since I don't have a functioning car, it's difficult (though not impossible) to make trips to the outskirts of town. That's why I've been leaning heavily toward ordering online. Can anyone familiar with wheel replacement/ordering help? I'm open to suggestions if you can explain why they will definitely work (I'm really paranoid about ordering a set that won't fit).I've found some potential options, but have some concerns. For instance, here: http://ift.tt/2u1JZx3 . The wheel seems right by most considerations and would be within my budget, but I'm worried because it apparently only has an offset of 40--is that close enough? If you can guide me toward finding a solution I'd be extremely grateful and willing to offer some minor rewards as a token of my thanks.Any assistance any can contribute is very appreciated! Let me know if there's any additional information I need to provide. via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2t8cUT8
