Are German car brands more reliable outside of the US?

I know people in Mexico who have had a lot of good luck with their VW's, late and early. I also hear people on forums from Germany talking about how their Mercedes and BMW's are super reliable and the US models are prone to failure. Is this true? via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2s9usd9
