Am I roasting the clutch?

(this really belongs in a stupid question Tuesday, what happened to those?) I recently turned my leased 2014 Mazda3 in for a 2017 WRX. After 3 years of driving the Mazda3 I never smelled clutch a single time even with the few (unintentional) overrevved launches. I like to think I'm pretty conservative when it comes to slipping the clutch.~2100 miles into driving the WRX and I've smelled something twice after revving it (past?) 3k and slipping the clutch for a few seconds unintentionally. It didn't smell like burning oil or exhaust fumes, but maybe burning rubber or hot plastic. I only got a whiff of it each time. I never noticed anything lingering in the cabin, but I'm curious what kind of smell I should be watching out for.On a side note it seems like the Mazda3 already had some noticeable rev-hang because I think I was already in the habit of deliberately closing the throttle completely before changing gears. WRX rev-hang doesn't seem that bad in comparison but it is there, especially when you want to change gears quickly. via /r/cars http://ift.tt/2snWUv4
